Creator or influencer? Brands already decided.

Creator or influencer? Brands already decided.

The words get used interchangeably. Brands do not treat them the same. If your bio says both and your rate card says one number, the brief will go sideways and the invoice will get questioned.

You can be both. You cannot pretend they are the same job.

Influencer

You are hired for the audience that already trusts you. The post lives on your channel. The value is distribution plus credibility.

A food creator in Houston posting a salsa on her TikTok is influence. Her comments are the store. The brand is borrowing the room.

Creator / UGC

You are hired for the craft. The brand may post the work on its own channels, run it as ads, put it on a website. The value is the file, not your follower graph.

A creator in Puebla shooting three verticals of the same salsa, no posting, files in a Drive, is UGC. The brand already has the distribution. They needed a mouth the room believes.

We hire both. Different rooms, different invoices. Influence is usually U.S. — the city, the language, the house. UGC can be U.S. or a production market (Mexico, Argentina) when the brand only wants the video.

Most Hispanic creators are both

You can shoot UGC Monday and a paid partnership Friday. Your kit should say so, with two rates.

  • On my channel: dedicated post, starting at $X. Spark / whitelisting extra.
  • Files only: one vertical, organic usage, starting at $Y. Paid usage extra.

If you only post, say that. If you only deliver files, say that. “Content creator / influencer / UGC queen” is four shrugs.

How to know which you are this week

Ask: where does the work live after I send it.

If it lives on your profile, you sold influence. If it lives on their ads manager, you sold a video. If they want both, that is two lines, not a discount for mixing them.

Brands already decided. Your job is to stop making them guess.

When you apply here, the form asks whether you post, deliver UGC, or both. Answer the one you actually do. We will not brief a UGC-only creator on a Houston influence job, and we will not pay influence rates for a file with no post.

What to put in the bio

One line for the room. Then one line for the product: “I post. I also deliver files.” Or only one of those.

If the bio says influencer and the kit is a UGC rate, we cannot forward you. Pick the word that matches the invoice you want. The next lesson is the split in full: UGC vs posting. This page is the identity. That page is the SKU.
